The site redesign by Steve of Scoobypedia is now online! Due to time zone conflicts we had to rush to get everything finished so there may be some problems. If you find any, please let us know in the phpBB Problems forum.

I want to thank Steve for his hard work in helping make the new site a reality. With some work and new content, the site should be much more accessable to new users than a forum alone.

Good job, it looks nice. Is there any way to get rid of the sidebar in forum view? I see "edit SideBar" but that seems to be more for editing the sidebar content, which I don't think I want to do.

Great job Steve!

Is there anyway to link the editing of the Wiki stuff with the normal RomRaider's user profile? That way only registered users can edit it. I don't think we want someone who isn't even a registered user to be have the ability to edit anything on the site.

That I really want to keep. We actually went through hell trying to make it work. My concern is that users will click on a link to view a thread and never realize that this is in fact a full featured site now rather than just a forum. We will make it a bit smaller so it doesn't take so much screen real estate. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon.

Certain parts of the wiki (maybe most) is going to protected and require users to log in and be members of a certain permissions group to modify. Haven't gotten that far yet. ;)

Thanks for all the positive feedback, much appriciated. I don't feel so guilty using this great software for free now ;-)

I'm sure we can tie your user logins to the phpBB forum login if that's a requirement. Wiki's are a paradim shift attempting to remove obsticals for people to contribute, however I understand your concerns to guard against edits. Also differentiate between edits by spammers and edits people wanting to contribute. The former is 'protected' against.

Let us know how you want this handled. Thanks for all the positive feedback, much appreciated. I don't feel so guilty using this great software for free now ;-)

I would vote for tying it in to the RomRaider user profile. I can't think of situation where someone who isn't even a registered member of RomRaider would be editing the Wiki other than spammers and vandals. If it were up to me, I would also limit new registered users from editing it until they have a certain number of posts (say 10).

 Cool!! I like it!!!!

Yeah, tie the Wiki to the Forum login, make it seamless, if you can.

If you guys wanna make it easy for, people to still contribute, why don't you make all edit require Admin review?

Seems this would provide the best of both, easy to contribute, and make sure all edits are proper/acceptable/not spam.

There's only one RomRaider site, so if someone didn't bother to even register on the site (which is easy), what purpose would they have to edit the RomRaider wiki? If this was a Wiki about general openecu software, then yes, limiting it to registered users might hurt valid contributions. RomRaider is just too specific of a topic, though. That leaves Wiki vandals and fanboys of the commercial flashing to wreak havoc. Certainly they could do the same if they registered, but they probably won't take that extra step. But if they see they can edit at will so easily, they are more likely to do it.

Anyway, I'll volunteer to be Wiki approver if you decide to go that route (I'm on here all the time).
