This is not a problem due to software update.
AVCS timing is not applicable for engine after about 100kkm on the clock.
AN740 stock and AN742 ecu software package update have the same AVCS timing.
FHI idea is to force you to buy a new car after a warranty period.

See my corrections to AVCS timing above.

:? :?

Even though I see what you write I am amazed if that is the case.
Well...maybe it´s time to look after another manufacturer.
Car before this was a -98 Outback, just loved the car until 135000 km when engine cracked totally.
No warranty or insurance to cover a new engine so I had to spend a lot of heard earned money to put in a renovated engine. This was a well known issue with that engine also.
Sold the car short after since it started to knock when cold, didnt even get my money back for engine switch.
And now this...sigh.

Well, just home after a long shift and checked diagnostic codes again, attaching picture.
Autel reader give no codes at all.

Will log the car later this week and post my results.

EJ204 engine itself is not as bad.
Recalibrated engines are around 100-300 kkm without evident signs of degradation.
It's all about improper AVCS and knock algo calibation that is not applicable for a car after about 100kkm.

Errors above do not correspond to your engine.
Many of them are for systems that not available.

Use freeSSM program currently.

Are you able to provide a copy of the stock ROM?
I think I know why the DTC reader reports all those unsupported DTC items. It has to do with how the ECU init string is reported to the RR Logger. I had to make an assumption of how many DTC are supported by the ECU and for this one the assumption is incorrect.

I can do that...if you give me instructions how to extract it.
I am not using Tactrix openport...have VAG KKL cable and maybe it´s possible to just log with that cable?
Tried Ecuflash, different versions but it doesn´t communicate with my ecu.
No vehicle interface.

Logged the car twice, two different hills.
Drove the car a couple of kilometers before logging.
Car felt so so...been worse.
Locked at second gear.
This time I didnt hear rattling noise.

Log files say nothing to me but attaching them.

The most annoying thing is when cruising on highway at about 2000 rpm or just below.
Car can feel ok several kilometers and then all of a sudden looses all power.
Today I was out driving on highway, didn´t have Romraider connected but a bluetooth adapter and Android app called Torque.Set to log timing.

All of a sudden the well known problem camed and I could see that car lower timings a lot down to 10 degrees.

Any ideas here in the forum what the h*** is going on?

I attached logfiles from Romraider, have you been looking at them?
If so, did you find anything out of the normal?

Once again:

Log the following:

Engine Speed (RPM),Manifold Absolute Pressure (Bar),Air/Fuel Learning #1 (%),Air/Fuel Correction #1 (%),Coolant Temperature (°C),Engine Load (%),Rear O2 Sensor (V),Throttle Opening Angle (%),Mass Air Flow (g/s),Intake Air Temperature (°C),Ignition Timing (°BTDC),Vehicle Speed (KPH),Atmospheric Pressure (Bar),Fuel Injector #1 Pulse Width (ms),Air Flow Sensor Voltage (V),

Accelerator Opening Angle (%),Learned Ignition Timing (°BTDC),

Intake VVT Advance Angle Left (°),Intake VVT Advance Angle Right (°),

Air/Fuel Sensor #1 (Lambda),Air/Fuel Sensor #1 Resistance (Ohms)

Knocking Correction (°)

Look at Learned Ignition Timing (°BTDC), Knocking Correction (°),Ignition Timing (°BTDC)
at 2000-3000 RPM while Intake VVT Advance Angle Left (°),Intake VVT Advance Angle Right (°) are about 45-50 Deg advanced.

Ok, will try again.
See I missed to log VVT Advance Angle Left (°),Intake VVT Advance Angle Right (°).
I clicked to log knocking correction but it doesnt seem to log that value...
I am sorry to be a pain in the a** but I am no mechanic and all of this is totally new for me.

I can´t understand that the authorized Subaru workshop missed this totally even though it´s been there 3 times and I tried to explain how the car behaves.

To correct this I guess I have to extract the rom, edit timings it in Romraider and flash back corrected file.
I am not comfortable doing this but will contact Subaru Nordic about this and see if they can fix the problem.

Thanks for your help!

ROM update AN742 package you have is the latest official update.
They can't help more.

I wounder about what you said earlier.
That this is a strategy FHI have to force owners to buy a new car.
If I buy a new Subaru and leave mine as trade on a authorized dealer...would mean I put the dealer in a difficult situation with a car thats almost unsellable or with a returning customer with the same problem all over again.

That way FHI bites it´s own ass and get a reputation as a bad buy sooner or later.

I contacted Subaru Nordic by mail yesterday and also the authorized dealer by phone.
So far they didnt contact me, so maybe I am on my own with this...

I will wait a little longer and see if they contact me.
Meanwhile I downloaded and tested freeSSM wich seems to connect to my car ok.
No fault codes at all.

Today it much warmer, actually above freezing point.
Could not reproduce and log when car goes really bad because that comes and goes when warm.
When colder it seems to be every coldstart.

I took the car for a ride on freeway and logged it just to learn the logger.
Locked at fourth gear and gave full throttle at straight road without hill, I could clearly see that ignition lowers while angles are about 48 degrees and there is some knocking correction.

Ignition doesnt lower as much as I saw the other day and car doesnt feel as weak either but considering this is supposed to be 150 hp it feels bad.

I attach log file and will try to log when car behaves worse, I know it comes back when driving longer or when its colder.
