Not sure about your Liberty 5EAT's but with some careful manipulation of the DBW tables, I have had the '11 AUDM STi and Forester S Edition 5EAT shifting as violently or as smoothly as I want. I have Intelligent & Sport modes setup so gear changes could be mistaken for a CVT but Sport# can get the T/C light flickering on gear changes.

Which ROM ID should I download to experiment with?

not sure what you mean by dbw manipulation? i have mine set at 380 on 100% throttle. there's apparently a cap in RT governed by the TCU. if i were to set 450 as my RT at 100% throttle it makes no difference in shifts.

There isn't :) Already proven it on a few LGT's now and have customers getting sunburns from the T/C light staying on. Shift like a DSG box, can only tell the car has changed gears when the tacho drops with no shaft speed slippage on a stock box(no modified valvebodies)

ok so school me on this, i know of a dyno tuner who has spent quite some time playing with dbw and the 5eat and hasnt found an improvement with greatly increased RT. you're saying increasing the RT above 350 does make a difference? I'm only speaking of WOT activity, not just farting around shifts. my base DBW RT tables are altered too. im interested to hear more of your techniques....

Yes, WOT shifts :)

Yes, please elaborate! I've played endlessly with the DBW tables and have only managed to get a noticeable difference in midrange shifting. I even tried raising the max requested torque limit with a definition NSFW found and even though it showed the limit I entered, there was still a hard limit at around 408 that would not let throttle increase above it. My rom ID is A2WC521R, so no SI drive.

I am also from LGT.com. I am interested in this. I just saw BMX videos and the shifts do look crisper. Can this be accomplished if the eCU is tuned with a Cobb AP from EFI Logics?

How does one go about getting this? Please let me know. I am interested..

Saw the interest and rather than joining up to another forum(that was obviously linked here) I can say that the DBW maps are literally hours of research and development. BMX's car is only the tip of the iceberg(needs some fine tuning to suit the VF52), yet I have a customer with a Blouch powered SH9 S Edition Forester with the stock box shifting like a true DSG! Also tuned a H6 5EAT with a Supercharger that is probably too aggressive with the built transmission... yet the shift speeds are identical.

Also, I have tuned EVERY 05 to 12 5EAT for similar shifts.

i have palyed with this a bit also..

what happened was when i rasies teh requested torque past the 408 limit the throttle plate ended up staying down to where ever teh 408 was. so if i raised it to 450 and scaled the whole thing where ever ~408 was the throttle would stop there. if you get what i mean ..

i suppose if you raise the requested torque to 450 or what ever and then left teh table for the calculation for actual throttle angle alone it would maybe work that way.

but basically we only have the two table to play with as far as i know ? right ?

the tcu uses more than just RT values and RPMs to make calculations. there are other factors involved from what I've noticed.

Yes i'm sure .. but we have not been able to get into those other values.
so whats that your playing with ? oh do tell !

fyi my 5 eat is behind a 3.8 buick grand national turbo engine :P

i do have the valve body mod and going to use megashift for the tranny at some point but i'm still itching to know what your playing with !

how hard is it to wire in a standalone TCU?

about 1 hour..

i have not done it .. but once i figure out what is needed it would be a plug and play harness that plugs into existing ..

you would probably have to disable p0700 code as i already have and the sport light will probably flash ...

i think the best idea is make the car think its a 5 mt so switch the dash and computer to a 5 mt or what ever is nessasary for the 5 mt guys and then plug in the megashift or what ever and away you go !
