Compressor Efficiency

The efficiency of a compressor is a measure of how much of the energy supplied from the exhaust is used to generate airflow (hence power). Some amount of the energy supplied to the compressor by the turbine also goes to heating the intake charge (thus decreasing power). Typical maximum efficiency is around 75%. Compressor maps typically have an “island” where this maximum efficiency is attained.
